Oh, damn.  I've been looking at this code so long, I have been totally flipped
around.  I'm sorry, but originally this was flipped around and the if test was
inside.

I have been a little frustrated with the communication as it looks like neither
of us have been able to hit on that important aspect of the code generation.

Completely my fault, though.

Please excuse the frustration.
