Unusual platforms and maintainers

Hello,

there are a good number of bootstrap problems on less-than-common 
platforms. I'm not sure what approach to take, as building a full 
cross-compiler is unlikely to be sufficient to solve the matter, and 
I'm not even certain how practical it is in most cases. Aside from 
asking the reporters to confirm these bugs, is it fair to cc the 
platform maintainers too, in the hope that they can provide some 
insight/info on the issues?
