Yes, documentation for obsoleted configurations should be deleted.  It
may be tricky to figure out which ones are obsolete though.  The ones
you mentioned all look like ones that should have documentation deleted.

No, this stuff can all go away.  It was "finished" as of gcc-3.1.  That
is "finished" in the sense that you should have been able to build a
linux distro from it.  The glibc and binutils required version number
info is out of date, as other non-IA64 changes since then force us to
need newer versions.

The next paragraph stating ABI incompatibilities is still somewhat
useful.  We probably should add gcc 3.1 or later to the list, and then
recommend 3.1 or later for the kernel.

make 3.79 did not exist at the time that was written.  Certainly, we
would recomment 3.79.1 now.  It is probably still useful here to mention
that there are problems with AIX make, since this is where an AIX user
should look for info.
