I think this is related to this Patch:
2002-10-21  Jan Hubicka  <jh@suse.cz>

        * i386.c (contains_128bit_aligned_vector_p): New function.
        (ix86_function_arg_boundary): Properly align vector modes.

I think the fix would remove the abort or fix it so the alignment can be larger than 
PARM_BOUNDARY.
