This is probably not assigned to the right person.  The SSE issues I was mentioning in what I 
wrote originally were just a motivation for adding some documentation -- I don't have any 
specific bug reports that aren't already submitted.  A point of contention is that, as far as I can 
tell, SSE[2] insns are enabled implicitly by several -march settings, but Wolfgang writes: 
 
 
    With regard to disabling SSE[2]: If you don't specify some 
    additional flags, sse is not used. 
 
However, for gcc 3.2.3 in gcc/config/i386/i386.c I see:
