[Bug optimization/11386] GNU Emacs 21.3 failed to install using GCC 3.3, but GCC 3.2.3 works.

I should have read the manual :-( It all boils down to the following remark:
Emacs 21.3 must be compiled with -fno-zero-initialized-in-bss starting with GCC 3.3.
