This is an ice on illegal, which only happens with checking enabled.  Somebody
moved the target milestone to 3.3.1 last week, but:
1) it obviously is not important enough to fix in a hurry, and
2) a fix is potentially more harmful than the bug itself

So I set the target milestone to 3.4 again.  It _will_ be fixed by then.  Really.
