Are you using Sun's as and ld or GNU's?
How did you configure?
I know there was a bug in 3.3.1 (which has been fixed: PR 12101).
Other people have bootstrapped on i386-solaris before <http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2003-11/
