To reproduce, download http://www.harboe.org/oyvind/rep.zip

It is 3MB zipped, but e.g. when removing the debug info the problem manifests 
itself differently.

Mohan switched to a newer version of binutils when this started happing:

- Works: GNU ld version 2.13.90 20030111
- New version not working: GNU ld version 2.14.90 20030612
