No, this has been broken forever, it is not a regression that should block 
anything. It is just that I came across this a number of times lately and 
wanted to incite people to fix the (seemingly) "easy" ones.

However, I agree that this might be an annoying problem. In the report I 
cited, the reporter shows that unexpected things might happen if you are 
unlucky and don't notce the bug the compiler does not warn about.
