    With gcc 3.1 (prerelease), cross-compiling from i686, I get
    
    fields.c: In function `deletefield':
    fields.c:136: structure has no member named `top_attach'
    
    Did things really get preprocessed properly, or was there
    really and error before but we ICEd after diagnosing it?
