    I tried to simplify this, but only managed to cut it down
    from ~2M to ~1.5M so far.
    Anyway, it seems like gcc 3.1 up to 20011127 inclusive
    eat ~ 36MB of memory on this while 20011231 snapshot
    takes already ~ 250MB at optimize_sibling_and_tail_recursive_calls
    time.
