[gb@gauss gcc]$ ./cc1 ice.c
 main
ice.c: In function `main':
ice.c:9: Internal compiler error in change_address_1, at emit-rtl.c:1934
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://www.gnu.org/software/gcc/bugs.html> for instructions.
>How-To-Repeat:
Try to compile the following testcase, extracted from HDF 5 soures:

[gb@gauss gcc]$ cat ice.c
int main(void)
{
  static const int align_g[] = { 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 };
  char * buf;
  int i = 0;
  volatile long double val = 0;
  val = *((long double *)(buf + align_g[i]));
  return 0;
}

This ICEs whatever optimization level you choose.
>Fix:
Syntactic workaround: remove the "volatile" keyword from long double val declaration.
