State-Changed-When: Sun Jan 6 09:04:20 2002
State-Changed-Why:
I can reproduce your problem with gcc 3.0.3.
I do not get the same thing with gcc 3.1.

    With gcc 3.1 20020104 (experimental), I get:
    # 1 "b.c"

    (b)

Is this what you are looking for?
