    I don't like the idea of lying to the compiler, we know what
    the registers are being set to :-)

Let me rephrase: we need a mechanism to say "this register is being set to
something that's too complicated to describe".

    We could just provide a generalized form of this.  Perhaps call it a
    SUPERREG:

	(superreg (reg:MODE BASEREG) NUM)

I think this is *way* overkill to solve this very specific problem, which
is basically just specific to this one "mark" routine.
