State-Changed-Why:
    You cannot mix C++ libraries compiled with different
    compilers.  You must compile all C++ libraries that you
    want to link with the same compiler.
    
    That means, you cannot use the IRIX supplied C++ libraries
    unless they were compiled with GCC (which is unlikely...
    the IRIX supplied C++ libraries are most likely built with
    the SGI IRIX C++ compiler).
