bootstrap/4245: Can't compile gcc-3.0

The original install is from the ISO format CDs (Seawolf) from the Red Hat site.
( I need to upgrade the kernel to 2.4, ,and the instructions recommend the
latest version of gcc)

2.2
localhost# rpm -qa |grep glibc
glibc-2.1.92-14
glibc-devel-2.1.92-14

reporting problems building boehm-gc on Red Hat Linux 7.
