Thanks for the suggestion Dave.  Just tried with that, but the GCC cross 
compiler build still bombs at the same place.

(This was just using the native binutils (2.9.5) and gcc (egcs 2.91.66), 
rather than replacing them with latest-version. Doesnt seem to matter 
wrt this bug)
