Compiling Java code using Gcc

Hi,

I read at the GCC description ( http://www.gnu.org/directory/gcc.html ) that it can be used to compile Java code. 

However I did not come across any such thing in the manuals. Could you please tell me if this is possible, and where the information in configuration (if such a 
thing is needed) is available on the internet ?
