Thanks for the patch; it does indeed fix the testcase i submitted.

However, when i went back to the full package i was trying to build
(orbacus), i ran into more problems that seemed to be related to
the complicated derivation graphs that orbacus uses.

I've submitted these as gnats reports c++/3130, c++/3131, c++/3132.
(It was only the last of these that actually bit me while trying
to build the package; the other two came up while i was trying to
simplify the test case.)
