I there,
have a good 2001!
I could not compile the source code for the lucent modem (!!!) for
my laptop,
here is the report following the indication in http://www.gnu.org/software/gcc/bugs.html
( some hints please :-) ....).
Thank you in advance.
1-The GCC version:
ltmodem-5.78c]# gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/2.96/specs
gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.0)

2-The complete command line that triggers the bug is:
make
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -DMODULE -w -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -I/usr/include/linux/include
-c -o serial.a serial.c
3-The compiler output is:
make
gcc -D__KERNEL__ -DMODULE -w -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -I/usr/src/linux/include
-c -o serial.a serial.c
In file included from serial.c:131:
/usr/include/linux/modversions.h:1:2: #error Modules should never use
kernel-headers system headers,
/usr/include/linux/modversions.h:2:2: #error but headers from an appropriate
kernel-source
make: *** [serial.a] Error 1
4-The preprocessed file (*.i*) that triggers the bug, generated by adding
-save-temps to the complete compilation command:
I have tryed but non *.i file was created!
5- The options given when GCC was configured/built :
this gcc comes with the red hat 7.0, i don't know
