Build failure with gcc-ss-20010101

I did as you suggested, however, cvs failed to create the topmost CVS
directory, which in turn leads to gcc_update failing.  For now, I
created an empty CVS directory. (which leads to:
> contrib/gcc_update 
Updating CVS tree
cvs update: in directory .:
cvs [update aborted]: *PANIC* administration files missing
Adjusting file timestamps
...

The file timestamps seem to have been adjusted correctly, so I'm
proceding with the build.
