Bootstrap failure: objdir=srcdir, FreeBSD make

It worked for me 2 days ago, but fails after the last compiler
bootstrap stage when trying to build libstdc++ (I think) with an
explicit message saying "only GNU make supported" or some such.  So it
shouldn't be too hard to get that far.
