Bootstrap failure: objdir=srcdir, FreeBSD make

Yes, I got it with objdir != srcdir as well today, but just hadn't
reported that yet.

With GNU make everything seems fine, with FreeBSD make (as in my original
report) I do get the failure, both for objdir == srcdir and objdir != srcdir.

Perhaps you can try BSD make on one of your FreeBSD boxes? (I suggest
to try objdir == srcdir first, to avoid possible VPATH issues -- one
problem at a time. <g> )
