No, I hadn't found that option; thanks for the pointer.  It could
possibly be used to build what I was asking for, though there are a lot
of grotty and not necessarily possible steps involved (in particular, to
get the arguments for the instrumented function, you need the debugging
symbols for the binary or library involved, which means finding the
binary or library image for the instrumented function--not something you
can do programmatically from inside a Unix process without some kind of
help).

So, please leave the feature request open unless the team decides this
isn't a feature they would like.
