bootstrap/5187: gcc 3.0.3 fails to bootstrap on Sun Ultra 60with Solaris 8

I did not think that autoconf was needed to build gcc - only if you wished to
edit the configure.in script. It should be possible to build gcc without
autoconf should it not ??? 

I do have autoconf installed (2.5).
