pending/4125 (3.0.1 building error)

I had a problem in installing GCC 3.0.1 libstdc++-v3
on x86 Linux, and looking at the GNATS database I found
that the problem report

to be almost the same. However, the above report said

>'make install' causes an error because it tries to access
>a header file in the >[...]/i586-pc-linux-gnu/libstc++-v3/../gcc
>instead of [...]/i586-pc-linux-gnu/libstdc++-v3/../../gcc.

>Note: 'make bootstrap' worked flawless

but in my case I encountered the problem already in the
"make bootstrap" phase. The suggested fix (creating
a symlink) worked for me, too.
