BTW, I found a quote on the website where it specifically states that
what you are doing is unsupported (note the last clause.) Its not
new, checking the cvs logs for configure.html shows that the policy
for this specific issue was enshrined in May 98.
You may be able to fix your case, but it may be a losing battle unless
this policy is changed. I don't particularly object to, or support,
this policy. I merely mention it so you know where you stand, you'll
probably have other problems unless we declare this operation
"supported".
