[bug] gcc-2.97 (2000-10-29), ICE in eliminate_regs, at reload1.c:2516 (sparc-linux)

I got the above ICE while compiling glibc 2.1.96. Attached is the .i file.
To reproduce, simply try to compile the attached file with:

gcc -O2 -c test.i

Note, that it compiles fine with -O0 and -O1.
