I've looked at Jan's patch, and it looks OK to me --
except for the canonicalization issue that Richard pointed
out. I can't approve the patch because I don't
quite understand all the issues.
Richard, would you mind going another round with Jan
to resolve this bit?
Jan, it's just not acceptable to have the tree failing to
bootstrap like this -- especially on the platform where
you were making the changes. We're going to need to back
out your previous changes if we can't get this straightened
out in the next 24 hours or so.
