    Would you mind taking a look at this?  It looks related to the recent
    size_binop changes.  This is C, and apparently fails independent of
    platform -- according to the reporter it certainly fails on x86.

Sorry: I was away for a few days.  I can't reproduce this with my
sources on the Alpha compiler I have, but I have another round of changes,
which might just have fixed it.  As soon as I get caught up, I'll check
them in and also build an x86 cross-compiler to try this case on.
