link errors with simple c++ prog on hpux10/11/a couple others

No, I know nothing about HP/UX, nor do I have access to such a
system. I was just pointing to the library that *ought* to provide the
symbols.

Well, I recommend that you look at the assembler code next, to analyse
whether the symbols are properly exported.
