gcc-2.96 20000630: Invalid assembler code building libg++ oni586-pc-linux-gnu

libg++-2.8.1.3-20000419 fails to build with current CVS version of
gcc (tested with 30 June version and also earlier ones) on 
i586-pc-linux-gnu.

With 30 June version wrong assembler code is generated for src/Fix24.cc.
