Thanks for your bug report. I can't reproduce your problem. I did all
steps exactly as you've described, and I get

mira% setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH .
mira% ./tstmain.exe           
mira%

i.e. no crash. I use g++ 2.95.2, binutils 2.9.5.0.12, and glibc 2.1.2.
