Consider that binutils 2.9.1 still is the latest release, and everything
newer is supposed to be snapshots, of the `no guarantee, you're on your own',
I'm wondering if I should laugh or cry...

Pray tell, assuming I want to upgrade a NON linux system to something
reasonably recent, *WHAT* version of binutils am I supposed to use ?
Do I have to dive into snapshots to find anything worthwhile ?
Even better, what do I do if I want to build cross-tools, or to direct someone
to build cross-tools ?
