egcs-20000207 internal compiler error on __gcc_bcmp in libgcc2.a under sco v5

When I have tried to build the last few egcs snapshots under
sco openserver 5.0.5 using the sco 5.0.5 dev sys using "make
bootstrap", it dies with an internal compiler error '?' in
toplev.c while building __gcc_bcmp in libgcc2.c with xgcc.
Does this happen to anyone else on similar systems?
