Compiling egcs-20000131 on alphaev56-unknown-linux-gnu

While compiling the current egcs snapshot on this platform, I received
the following warning/errors.  Let me know if I can provide further
useful debugging information on this problem.  The following tools here
used:

gcc - egcs-2.91.66
binutils - 2.9.1.0.24
glibc - 2.1.3pre3 & glibc-2.1.2
