Funny warning message: greater than minimum

egcs-20000724 on linux yields some funny warning message:

Derivatives.h:2507: warning: string length `609' is greater than the
minimum length `509' ANSI C is required to support

I believe it should be "... maximum length",
not minimum length, right?

Btw.:
1. How can I stop this new and annoying message?
All my expression templates are 10 times larger than 509...

2. Do I have a real world problem with those long names?
Is this the reason for hp-ld to die all the time?
I heard of a name mangling feature in gcc. Does it exist?
Are there problems with instantiations in different compile units.
