Hi there,
There seems to be a bug (at least gcc tells me so) when compiling certain
inline-assembly code with the -O switch set to 2 or above.
Platform: P3, 700MHZ, Win 98 second edition, DJGPP with "gcc --version"
returning "2.952"
Compiling the following code using
ÃÂ gcc -O6 filename.c
(or gcc -O2 filename.c)
returns an
ÃÂ Internal compiler error in `fixup_var_refs_1', at function.c:2071
//-- BUG CODE STARTS --
void error_function(void)
{
ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ char c;
ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ asm( "mov %0, %%eax"
ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ :
ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ :"m" (&c)
ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ : "eax" );
}
//-- BUG CODE ENDS --
NOTE: the "mov %0, %%eax"-part can also be "", the asm-code isn't
important. Seems like the (&c) is
confusing the compiler (just a guess)
