new cpp warning in egcs-19990913

the following code triggers a warning in egcs-19990913 whereas it did
not with gcc-2.95.x:

$ gcc -Wall -c comment.c 
comment.c:2: warning: `\' followed by white space at end of line

$ gcc -v
