The AIX 4.1.* configuration (config/rs6000/x-aix41) already defines BOOT_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-bbigtoc. If you needed to do anything extra to invoke the linker with -bbigtoc, then you probably did not follow the installation instructions. "make bootstrap" and "make bootstrap-lean" apply the flag during the appropriate stages. David
