Bug with templates and operator[]

Oops--

Sooner or later I'll learn to read a FAQ.

But, the FAQ was a little unclear as to current status of things... is
there a switch in egcs 1.1.2 to enable automatic template
instantiation?  Or is it a separate patch, or what?
