egcs-19990502 u77-test.f failure on Irix6.5

The libf2c function ctime_() is returning a date string of Dec.
31 1969 when called as a subroutine, and a null (or blank?)
string when called as a character function.  Attached is the result
of 'gcc -E ctime_.c'.  I was unable to persuade g77 to compile a
call to the Irix version of ctime() (available only as a function) for
comparison.

The remainder of the tests performed by g77 testsuite, including
the rest of u77-test, are passing.
