You have to provide header files suitable for your target.

Hmm... I find this difficult to accept.

Once upon a time, ie, gcc-2.8.1, I could just configure and build.
This produced a "raw" compiler which I could then use to compile my
libraries. If I wanted to create a compiler which used my libraries
by default, I either hacked specs files or invented a new config
target.

How do I build the "raw" compiler if it's no longer done with
"powerpc-unknown-elf"?

And while we're at it, what does _muldi3 need with stdlib.h or
unistd.h? What happened to the plain, good old, stand-alone -lgcc?
