egcs-19990314 bootstrap failure on DUNIX

With egcs-19990314, I get a bootstrap error on 
OSF1 aka Digital Unix aka True64 Unix   
(uname -a still says unimpressed ;) )
OSF1 caracal.ica1.uni-stuttgart.de V4.0 564.32 alpha 

[The same snapshot compiles fine under solaris 2.5.1]
