I remember quite a bit discussion regarding this a while back. I can't
get to the mail archives now, but you may want to search for starting
with Zack's `cpplib to-do list' thread. However, that feature is
definitely not present in the standalone cpp in upcoming gcc-2.95; 
cpplib, which is evidently not yet ready to replace cccp, does handle
line-endings in a more uniform manner.
