Could it have something to do with the "while(a--)... ->
if(a)do...while(--a)" loop conversion in the new code ?
This loop looks like it could be a candidate (although it is not exactly
like the example):
while (0 < newlines--)
bar();
[ Note: I can't test anything over here - at work; the only
machines remotely capable of building egcs on are SGI's ]
