Adding ``= 1'' to the flag_do_squangling declaration in
gcc/cp/decl2.c will set that to the default, which in
turn makes it much easier to build a compatible libstdc++.
I've been doing this on Solaris for a while.  As others
have pointed out, gas doesn't have this problem.

Could someone add instructions on building egcs to use a
non-standard assembler?  That has been mentioned before, 
but I'm afraid I wasn't paying attention...
