As an "official maintainer", I have sometimes appreciated knowing
about bugs that "happen" to get fixed during development.  At least,
it might rate a mention in a "bugs fixed" section, e.g. in an
on-line document, to help prevent people (those sticking to official
releases) from bothering to report it again, and perhaps from relying
on pertinent aspects of the product.  It might even rate producing an
"emergency" patch.

Though, ICEs are probably the least important of the classes of bugs
in this respect.  I'd consider code-generation bugs more important,
in terms of being aware they've been fixed, perhaps as collateral effects
of doing other work.

In general, though, I prefer users err on the side of providing too much
over too little information.
