optimization bug in g77

Could you be more specific about just what the bug is?  We aren't
normally able to try to debug other peoples' programs, assuming that
the bug will turn out to be in the compiler.  (We do it on occasion,
though.)

If you could debug your program yourself, perhaps you'll find that
the bug is in the code, not the compiler, or elsewhere.  But, if it
is in the compiler, at least you will be able to be much more specific
about just what the bug *is*, e.g. point to wrong assembler code
generated by the compiler, or similar.

The g77/gcc documentation has information on this sort of thing
when it comes to reporting bugs.
